Tutorial on Center Step Card using Folded Notecard

***If you are here for the blog hop, please see the post below**

Hi there! Irene with you today to share a tutorial on how I made this Centre Step Card using the Hero Arts Folded Notecard and other materials in the April Cardmaking Kit.

Materials Required:
Paper trimmer
Scoring tool
Foam pads

Method:

A. Center Step

1. Use Hero Arts Latte Folded Notecard to create a center step card. Follow ‘Center Step Card’ template instructions in cutting and scoring.

   2. As it is a folded notecard used to create the center step card, score both sides steps at ¼” interval. This will create a design with the initial fold. The side steps can also be fully covered with pattern paper instead of score lines.

3. Embellish the side steps of the card as desired.

In this card, I mat the side steps, bottom and center with pattern paper.

Measurements I used as follows:

Side panels:                1” x 3”             - 2
Inside bottom side panels: 1” x ¾”    - 2
Center step:                2 ¾” x 3 2/16”  - 1
Bottom panel:              ¾” x 5 ¼”        - 1

Also, I mat the center step with pattern paper so it will still go with PPS April Card Sketch that comes along with the kit.

Measurements for the pattern paper mat at the center step of the card as follows:

Top & Bottom: 2 ½” x ¾”
Middle: 2 ½” x 1 ¼”

Tip: Distress / ink the sides of pattern paper as desired before attaching to card steps.

Embellishments:

1.  1. Use My Mind’s Eye Miss Caroline “Favourite” Stamp Set in the kit, stamp the tulips onto light colored pattern paper from the kit using your choice of ink. I used JenniBowlin Speckled Egg ink. Cut out tulips, apply glossy accents and set aside to dry. Attached to the bottom panel of the step.

2. Use My Mind’s Eye ME Miss Caroline “Favourite” Stamp Set, stamp 2 butterflies onto light colored pattern paper from the kit using your choice of ink. I used JenniBowlin Speckled Egg ink. Cut out the butterflies and use Maya Road Heart Trinket Pins to create antennae. Add gems at the center of the butterflies. Attached the butterflies to each side at the bottom panel of the card step.

3. Use My Mind’s Eye ME Miss Caroline “Favourite” Stamp Set, stamp the medium size flower onto light colored patter paper 3 times using your choice of ink. I used Jenni Bowlin Speckled Egg and Lemon drop inks. Cut out the flower and assemble. Use 3D foam pads in between each flower. Attached gems at the center of the flower. Cut out 2 leaves shapes from any pattern paper in the kit & distress/ink the edges. Cut Gold Ribbon, assemble and attached to the middle. Assemble and attached leaves and flower at the top of the ribbon.

4.  Using October Afternoon Grey and Cream Mini Market Alpha, add sentiments at the top and bottom horizontal panel in the center of the card. I choose ‘Dream Big’ as my sentiment and used foam pads to attach it.

5. Embellish the inside of the card as desired.

Done! I hope the tutorial didn't get too technical for you. If you have any doubts, feel free to give
me a shout by leaving a comment here.
